M1 MacBook Pro Freezing After Login - Tried All The Usual Fixes, Can You See Anything In My Error Log That Might Help?

Hi All,

I have a 2020 Macbook Pro M1 that I turned off yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. When restarting, it brings me to the login window, allows me enter password, and after that drops back to the black screen with Apple logo and the loading bar freezes about 2% of the way in.

  • I can boot into recovery mode.
  • I have repaired all discs in disk utility, they're all fine.
  • I have run the diganostics check, everything passed.
  • I have no time capsule backups, so can't do that.
  • I attempted to reinstall the OS in recovery but it failed with the error "This operation couldn't be completed com.apple.diskspacerecovery error -1"
  • I have booted the mac in safe mode, and it brings me to the login screen (with safe mode in the top right hand corner) but the issue repeats itself after login
  • I have tried the reset pram thing, but seems to not work on M1s
  • And I have tried to login while holding shift and clicking the login arrow.

I have no other user accounts on the computer and I don't have a second computer to hand to backup to (but could get a hard drive). I have an iPad pro but dont think its of any use here.

I've pasted the error log below, can anybody help with what else I could try to solve this?

Thanks

Mike,
