Slow SMB file transfer

My file transfer over WIFI 6 on my Mac Book Air M1 is extremely slow. I heard that the version of SMB file transfer protocol can be the problem. I also heard that Mac Book Air M1 only support SMB version three and if you have a router or NAS with version 1 or 2 it will use AFP instead, an older and slower protocol.

What is the version of SMB in Mac Book Air M1?

Is there a solution for the problem with slow file transfer over WIFI?

Help will be appreciated.

deathly slow network transfers I do network file transfers from my M1 iMac (Monterey) to my old (late 2011) MacBook Pro running High Sierra. My router/internet is Google fiber, which is hugely fast on both machines. But these file transfers take AGES. Several minutes for 100MB. Why? File transfer—Prioritise wired connection over wifi? Is it possible to "direct" file transfers over wired connections while Macs are connected to a wifi network? I have a number of Macs and occasionally need to transfer large (GBs) files between them. They run various macOS versions, from High Sierra to Monterey. The Macs are all obviously connected to my wifi network but due to the location of the router wifi is slower for file transfers than a wired connection. In my testing it seems that even if I connect a wired connection the file transfer will be done wirelessly. For the transfer to be done over the wired connection I need to disconnect at least one of the Macs from the wifi. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this Philip

Data transfer speed mac to mac via Ethernet 10Gbs I'm working with 2 Macs connected via Ethernet cable Cat6, the 2 Macs are a 2013 Mac Pro and a Mac Studio Max M1, both support 10Gbs and also does the Cat6 cable is 10Gbs, but the max speed in MB I get between this 2 Macs is ~60MB/s Wifi is disabled on the Mac Pro, so the connection is 100% via cable This is the max speed when copying files from one to another, and so is the speed Blackmagic DST shows... I'm wondering if this is because some Frirewall or is just the limit of this Mac to Mac connection. The only thing is the Ethernet is not a crossover cable, but it is supoused not to be needed..
