Sudden sync failure between iPhone and Mac.

I've seen several questions like this but can't seem to find a similar situation. Overnight it seems there has been a syncing issue between my Mac and iPhone. Previously, all emails (outgoing and incoming via IMAP accounts) were appearing on both the Mac and iPhone. Now, emails are only appearing on the iPhone. I have confirmed that the passwords on the IMAP accounts are correct and the Tools/Accounts indicates they are connected. The only thing recent change I can think of is that I recently updated my Apple Watch and have received the on-screen notices that the Watch has been added to the syncing devices.

I've seen the answers with regard to logging out of iCloud, checking the IMAP passwords etc., but none of that seems to be the solution.

Thank you for your quick reply. Going through my settings, I realized that the gmail account was no longer syncing or indicated it was syncing. I re-connected the gmail account and emails for began to appear, including all those that had only appeared on the iPhone. I'll admit it's a mystery why that seemed to open the gates, but there it is.

Hello, Jajbryant. Thank you for posting your question to the Apple Support Communities. We understand your situation and how you are noticing that your mail messages are not appearing as expected on your Mac. We’re glad to hear that you are still able to send and receive messages normally with your iPhone, and we can certainly help you in this situation.

We understand that you have already checked to confirm that the email account settings are correct and that the settings show that your accounts are connected normally. To continue from here, we would like to be sure that you have all of the suggested troubleshooting steps explained. The following Apple Support articles list each troubleshooting step that we’d suggest using in a situation like this:

If you can’t receive emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

Troubleshoot email problems in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

If you continue to notice the same issue when using the Mail app for macOS, we can help you more. To move forward, can you tell us how your messages appear when you sign in to your accounts using Safari on your Mac instead? After singing in to a mail account with Safari, are you able to send and receive messages normally?

We hope that this information helps you research the solution and we will look forward to your reply.

Have a great day!
