Documents and Sync Data usage

Recently I have been experiencing very high data usage and when I go check my usage it says I have used 1.1 gb in documents and sync. I was driving for 3 hours yesterday and not on my phone and when I checked it documents and sync had used 300 more mb while I was off my phone. I have read other threads about this issue but I am just wondering if any one has come to a definitive answer to this issue.

Hello skiwhiz19,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand that when using cellular data on your iPhone, you’re noticing high usage of cellular data for Documents & Sync for System Services. We’d to help.

Do you have iCloud Drive enabled in your Cellular settings? You can check this by opening Settings > tap Cellular > scroll down to the bottom where you should see iCloud Drive which can be enabled or disabled by toggling the switch.

If this is enabled, when you’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network, cellular data is used to transfer documents and data on your device.

Let us know if this helps.
