Text messages received show up as garbled.

Just got an iPhone 12 mini and transferred my number from a pixel 4. For some reason, since then automated text messages received from health departments(doctors visit reminders, covid test results, etc) all show up as garbled. Other automated messages might not be working too, but these are the only ones I've gotten so far. Messages sent of other people's phones(both android and ios) work just fine. Is there some common font that's missing from the default IOS setup? It's rather important that these messages work. any help would be greatly appreciated?

It doesn't look like a font issue but rather some kind of encoding problem. Try contacting the people running the health messaging service to see if others have similar problems and if they know of a fix.

It's happening from multiple automated messaging services. The county health department, urgent care, family physician appointment reminders. I haven't received any other automated messages from anywhere else. Other people I know with iphones are getting the same messages just fine though. I also switched wireless phone providers when I switched phones could that be the cause of it?
