Slow downloads from iTunes on iPad Pro.

Hi, I have a IPad Pro (3rd gen) and I am trying to download a few movies I bought on iTunes to the iPad for offline viewing. The downloads have been ‘“preparing to download” for hours. Then occasionally they will “start downloading” but just stays at 1% and doesn’t change.


It’s not my connection. I’ve rebooted a bunch of times, and when I do, it gives a message that it cannot complete the download do I want to retry. If I retry it just starts the whole process over again.


If I try pause and resume the download it does the same thing.


The crazy thing is I can stream no problem. Logic tells me that if I can stream the movie I should be able to download the movie in the same or less time than it takes to watch. It has been DAYS trying to download a single movie.


I did not have this problem on my IPad Air 2.

You had mentioned that you've already attempted to restart your device, which didn't help resolve the issues. This was a great step to attempt. There's a couple of resources we can share with you and also some additional troubleshooting steps you can attempt. Whenever possible, check out the resources below:


If there's an issue when you redownload apps, movies, or other content from Apple - Apple Support

If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services - Apple Support


These resources do contain helpful steps you can attempt for troubleshooting your specific issue. The second one is mainly for connection issues to the iTunes Store. However, it does also have great steps you can try that might be able to help. If your issue continues, we can try to reset your network settings to see if that also helps. to reset your network settings, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.
