Perhaps the installation is corrupt? If so, ask Microsoft for a new license.

You did not provide any system information or context.

Maybe you upgraded to a 64 bit only OS like Catalina pr Big Sur and your Microsoft Word is a 32 bit app.

Look into the Free LibreOffice, it handles MS Office files like Word & Excel, & Page Layout…
