When you download the archive, it downloads to your iPhone.


The usual tool for manipulating local files is the Files app.

Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support


Here, insert a Lightning Flash drive into your iPhone, or a Lightning to USB 3 adapter (USB 3, not the older USB 2 adapter) and a USB flash drive, or a Lightning to SD adapter (if you’re not tied to USB flash storage), or connect from the Files app to a local network file server and transfer directly.

USB flash drive reliability can be quite poor for longer-term storage, unfortunately. I’d suggest storing anything of value in several different places, one of which might be USB flash storage.


Apple intends a local photo archive to be stored on a Windows system, or stored in the Photos app on Mac, and the available tools all gravitate toward those apps for local storage.
