Broken iPhone X and Xs wireless charging

Apple, many people have complained since 2018 about wireless charging with Apple X phones and my wife (iPhone X) and I (iPhone Xs) both have this problem (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8582981 and just Google it). I'm pretty sure this all started after the upgrade to iOS 12, wireless charging was working just fine with no issues prior to the upgrade. After much troubleshooting and testing, I have correlated that the iPhone will wireless charge like it should only ONCE after it is rebooted or restarted and then any attempts to wireless charge the phone again fails. If you restart the phone, works the next time and then fails on a second attempt to wireless charge. This happens EVERY time with MULTIPLE Qi charging devices that work perfectly after iPhone restart. I'm tired of restarting the phone when I want to charge with a wireless device. This is a simple problem to reproduce (I just went through the process again this morning) and still persists in the latest iOS 14.7.1, please resolve it!

Thanks for the response Eric, I've actually tested the wireless charging with multiple devices and they all behave the same way. All of my wireless charging devices work when attempting to charge the first time after a reboot, but if you take it off the charger and attempt to put it back, the phone will not charge (the battery does _not_ show it charging). All of these Qi wireless charging devices also have a light that indicates when a phone is present and the lights turn blue when the phone is placed on the charger, but if I have already done a wireless charge previously it will not still not charge until I reboot the phone even though the blue light is on. This can't be limited to just me, both of the phones (X and Xs) we own exhibit the same exact behavior and I've seen lots of folks report this problem which is then magically fixed after a reboot. The wireless charger I prefer to use is the one built into my car, a 2021 Toyota Supra, have no clue what model that one is, but Toyota is on the list of approved car manufacturers.

In regard to charging by wire, that is not impacted by this issue, charging by wire always works. I have also reviewed the Learn more section on the wireless charging. This has been going on for a while now and as I said, there is a clear pattern to reproduce the issue: reboot the phone, put it on the wireless charger and let it charge (the battery indicator shows the phone is charging and battery % increases after a few minutes), pick up the phone off the charger for a bit, then put it back on and the phone will not charge (battery indicator does _not_ show charging and continues to drain) even though the wireless charger shows it has detected the iPhone and charger blue light is on.

Hello L_TM,

We see you're having some issues wirelessly charging your iPhone, and we'd like to help out.

What's the make and model of the wireless charger that you're using?

Be sure to also check out the suggestions in the 'Learn more' section here: How to wirelessly charge your iPhone

Also, are you having the same type of issues when doing wired charging with the need to restart?

Take care.
