PAGES UPDATE

My MacBook Air is upgraded to High Sierra, and will not upgrade PAGES to that level. It also will not open the PURCHASED portion of the app store, from where to upgrade. It also won't open a document written on the newest version of PAGES. Please help. Thank you!

MacBook Air 11″, macOS 10.13

Apple does not provide full installers for past versions of Pages. Pages v11.1, presently in the Mac App Store, requires that you have macOS 10.15.7 (Catalina) or later installed before you can download and install the current Pages application.

If you are using Pages '09 on High Sierra, none of the documents produced by Pages v5.0 through 11.1 are compatible with that retired version of Pages. Sign into the Mac App Store with your Apple ID, and then you should be able to access the Purchased tab while pressing the option key. This may show Pages with an Update button, and will either deny installing the current Pages or update the currently installed Pages to its last version for High Sierra. That would be v8.1.

You can always sign into iCloud and use the Pages application available there.

A couple of points. Is the Pages icon in /Applications a purple ink bottle, or a yellow pen on a document? Perform a Get Info on the respective icon to get its version number.

I am suspecting that you have a trial version of Pages '09 installed and as Apple retired the iWork '09 suite in Sept 2013, there would be no means to purchase it from Apple.

The only chance to get Pages v8.1 is if you already have Pages v7.3 (required for High Sierra) already installed, and the option-key + Purchases tab is working. You should be signed into the Mac App Store with the same password as used to originally install Pages on it. I have never had the Mac App Store fail to allow access to the Purchases tab, so it may not like the Apple ID you are using.

Hello again! The Purchased tab is now working [no idea why it's so finicky], but PAGES only has the word "OPEN" instead of "INSTALL." It then asks me to purchase 09... Not sure why, as I do already this version installed and working. would love to upgrade to pages 7.3, if that's the latest that works for High Sierra. Thanks again for your helpful responses.
