To add to Dans useful input, assuming the Krome is seen by Logic, you need to go to go page 111 of the Krome manual to understand how you need to set the Krome to receive external midi and make sure you are sending midi sync out via midi sync preferences in logic.
Hi,
To start go to the Korg support site and make sure you have the proper drivers from Korg and that OSX Big Sur. Many legacy drivers are not supporting Catalina or Big Sir due to changes to 64bit and core MIDI functionality. In some cases basic MIDI functionality may be "plug and play" but in most cases a workstation requires proper drivers from the vendor. As for testing any MIDI setup you can use the Apple MIDI Setup utility or a free app called MIDIView.
Hope this helps

Hi guys,
thank you very much for the suggestions.
The keyboard is seen as midi device from OS (no drivers needed) and from logic also. As suggested, I set Krome to receive external midi (external USB); I can control some functionality as program change (but the list of programs is up to date), etc. , but I can't control the logic's sequencer using hardware play button of the midi keyboard.
Hi,
You can also check the mapping under Control Surfaces. This is where the magic happens. You need to make sure the controller is mapped properly to the action in Logic. There is a "Learn" mode to build the control surface mapping.
You can also get an app called MidiView ( free app store) to monitor what is being sent to and from the device. Very helpful app.
I Hope this helps.
If you're able to use the Krome as a MIDI controller, that means it's transmitting MIDI clock, so you should be okay there.
If you want to use the Krome to activate commands in Logic such as play or record, you can press option-k to bring up Logic's key commands, select a command, click Learn Assignment, then press the button or move the slider on the Krome that you want to activate it. A helpful article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210089 I recommend using the search field in the upper right corner of the key commands window because there are many of them.
A great article on custom controller assignments: https://support.apple.com/guhttps://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/smart-controls-lgcpf7d66614/mac
Controlling the interface using Logic's Smart Controls: https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/smart-controls-lgcpf7d66614/mac
Although I have not tested this, aside from being easy and preconfigured, I think the beauty of Smart Controls is they are part of your project. In other words, if you take your project to another studio, they should remain intact. Controller assignments set through preference settings are specific to the copy of Logic on your computer.
Hope this helps,
