I have tried right clicking the file, choosing Open With, choosing Preview. I click the box to make it the default. It will open it, but it doesn't change the TextEdit status and my other programs won't open it.

Somehow when you save the file, the .jpg isn't added to the filename. This might be a problem with Photomonky - or is it possible you are not adding .jpg when you write the filename, or deleting the .jpg which is already there?
In any case try renaming the file, and adding .jpg to it (select it in finder, hit enter, hit the right arrow to get to the end of the filename, type .jpg and hit enter again).
Does it work now?

OK - next thing to try...
Select the file. Hit CMD i (or right click and select "get info". Screenshot the resulting pane. It should look a bit like this:

did you add .jpg (with the .) to match all the other files? Can you show another screenshot after the rename?
Same as renaming a file. Hold down on the text with your mouse pointer until it turns blue (highlighted), or right-click/two-finger click on it and select rename.
Short of that, what happens when you open the text file? What's inside?
Have you tried to reset the file or folder permissions? And do a Safe-boot to clear some caches?
Again, when you say they save as text edit files what does that mean. Do they save with a .txt extension? Or something else.
When you open in preview, do you see a photo, or do you see text?
Unfortunatly this forum is about the apple Photos app. There is limited help we are going to be able to provide regarding PicMonkey.
I'm saving them as jpeg. I've always done this when using PicMonkey to save my edited photos. Now they save as TextEdit files. That's what it says. All my other photos show as jpeg. I don't know if something changed with a software update or what. I'm barely tech savvy, so speak slowly with any advice.
Look about halfway down on my list of photos. You can see how that one photo shows it's kind as TextEdit.
I don't think it's just related to PicMonkey. I will try adding another photo that isn't edited in PicMonkey.
Nope, that didn't work. I added the jpeg after the title, but it didn't change the kind of file it is. Thanks for trying to help. If you want to keep throwing out ideas for me, I'd appreciate it, but understand if you have better things to be doing.
It opens, no problem. Just won't open in my website host. I've been doing this process with my photos for a few years, no issues. I was not active for the last several months, and this is what I came back to. I did check the help on PicMonkey. No help there.
How are you saving them, and what makes you think they are text files.
