cannot call others within my family

I cannot call or send text or iMessages within my family, but have no issues calling others. Message app does not recognize my family as iMessage but does recognize others. Calls are not going through, get message from carrier that the caller cannot be reached or I am sent to voice mail. Texts will not send either by iMessage (blue) or text (green); but I can receive them from my everyone. I can receive calls from my family as well, this is only an outgoing call / text issue. Sounds like a carrier problem, but maybe an apple problem?

Might anyone in your family be sharing an Apple ID? If so, stop doing that immediately. Each person, regardless of age, needs her/his own, unique Apple ID.

And thorough housekeeping is required before using the new Apple ID(s).

Yes, our family has had multiple devices under one ID for years. Never a problem. Has something changed recently?

Just because something that should never have been tried worked for a period of time does not imply it should continue to work, or have ever worked in the past.

Each person, regardless of age, needs her/his own, unique Apple ID. Their devices need thorough cleansing as described above before "moving in" with the new ID. Family Sharing is an option.
