battery not charging on macbook air despite only 125 cycle charges

early 2015 macbook air, running on ios catalina 10.15

I was going to buy a replacement battery but why is this battery not holding a charge when its only showing 125 cycles. According to apple website, this mac should have a max of 1000 charge cycles

thanks

Depending on the chemical and physical age of the battery, how it was stored and used,

these factors and not just a random cycle count make a lot of difference. If the battery

is conservatively used and Mac allowed to charge at every opportunity, that's best.

A low cycle-count accumulated over 6 years may not be any different to the hardware than

an actively used short term number of cycles. (Exercise, more or less, isn't factor in this case.)

My portable Macs rely on the AC power adapter, for most their usage. Battery cycles are low.

When running on battery, dim the display; and conserve battery in all ways possible; then

use the Mac on AC adapter, without running the battery low; so as to not damage battery.

Perhaps time has arrived for portable Mac evaluated; plan for service inspection of charge

system, (ports/cables) w/ battery replacement. Expect it may cost a bit, to keep Mac its toes.
