SECURITY SUITE

I bought a used MACBOOK PRO and had a new hard drive put in. I need it as secure as possible as its being used for school. I bought this due to the fact of APPLE PRODUCTS REPUTATION FOR BEING SECURE. With that being said I heard now that I have this that in fact I do need to install a quality security suite. Is this true or am I wasting time and money. I went with a rather elite system but I now am conflicted. Do I really need this security or what??

MacBook Pro 17″, macOS 10.13

As long as the original owner followed all of the instructions here, there is nothing remaining of the previous owner's ID or info:

If you did not find an ID belonging to someone else and were able to set it up as yours with your own Apple ID, he must have done the above. Otherwise, you'd have run into problems setting it up. A simple question will answer that: when you first turned it on, did you get the "welcome" page with screen instructions to set it up? If so, it is fine.

If not, you could follow above instructions and wipe your own account out and start over just to be sure; one of the steps involves erasing the entire drive.

As for a security suite: absolutely not. The new OS version has sequestered the OS onto its own read only non-accessible volume which neither you nor anyone or anything can gain access to so any security software cannot access it either. It is a waste of money and computer resources.

I guess I understand that I probably cannot remove the original purchasers info but I was able to set myself up as sole administrator and my own APPLE I.D. etc,. I took it into a SPECIALIST computer store whom I have known many years and when I got it back it seemed as though it was brand new. I haven't seen anything yet from the previous owner (whom I trust with my life). Also I have not noticed any security breach I stated in my question that I heard conflicting ideas about having to install a security suite for extra protect due to the fact that APPLE already has a great reputation for out of the box security already. Could you be so kind as to express your thoughts on this??? Thank you also for your previous reply. lead404

WOW, I knew I wanted to try this bad-fella ( this MAC/OS) out and I am glad I did.i ran the security suite I am testing fort 60 days and it is trying to say I have 2 leaked email addresses and a bunch of open ports. This makes no sense to me cuz when it comes to this, I am a fish out of water. They tell you that you have these problems yet don't say how to fix it.

So, I AM TAKING YOUR ADIVE CUZ YOUR BACKED UP BY OTHERS saying the same thing. THANKS SO MUCH!!!! lead404
