Email timeout

I am getting the timeout error when trying to send or receive emails. I have tried removing and reinstalling my account, but it is still out. The message is: Connections to the server “p70-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out. I installed Big Sur and mail worked briefly last night, but today it's back to timing out.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Mark14,

Thanks for posting your question in Apple Support Communities.

The article you recently viewed provides some great information.

There are a few things you can do. First, try following the steps in this article: Use Connection Doctor in Mail on Mac. Connection doctor will run tests on your accounts and network to allow you to resolve any issues found.

If you are still having issues even when using connection doctor, you may need to scan your Mac for malware. You can download Malwarebytes for free and scan your Mac. Use this link: Malwarebytes.

Best Wishes.
