Charges

For sometime now I have been getting charged twice on purchases from the Township game. iTunes refunded a couple of times and then started refusing. So I decided in August to only purchase once a week to keep track. On 15 August charged twice once again. Applied for refund and refused. Please check your purchases as I am sure I am not the only one this is happening too. I will go to Visa now and get them involved I have no trust in iTunes.

The people responding on this support forum are users like you and we only know what Apple says in its documentation and what our own and other users' experience tells us. Apple does not have much on its criteria for refusing refunds. Here are two sections from the September, 2020 Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions - https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/us/terms.html

- "All Transactions are final."

I understand this as meaning Apple is starting from a point where any refund is considered an exception. They can simply say no without having to provide a reason. I understand this can be frustrating but by using the service you agree to the terms.

- "From time to time, Apple may refuse a refund request if we find evidence of fraud, refund abuse, or other manipulative behavior that entitles Apple to a corresponding counterclaim."

You can see if the terms are different for where you live by clicking on this link https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/ select your location and then your language.

If you feel you want to discuss a refund request, try to contact a live person using a telephone or chat request.

Click here --> https://support.apple.com/choose-country-region/media-services Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

I could see "abuse" possibly being asking for too many refunds in a given period of time. For all I know it is a computerized system. If you think you have a situation that needs special handling you should contact a person at Apple.

Hello,

The support article "If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement" explains how you can check your iTunes and App Stores purchase history, cancel subscriptions, and track possible sources of unrecognized Apple charges you may see on a bill. These may be purchases by family members if you are an organizer of a Family Sharing group, or possibly a second Apple ID you use. The article also provides a specific link for contacting Apple if you cannot trace the source of charges. Click on this link to read this article ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT201382 If you use Apple Card you may find this document helpful too: 'If you see an Apple Services charge you don't recognize on your Apple Card' ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT210618

Other possibilities to consider (not all may apply in your situation):

- Unanticipated amounts may be grouped charges ( https://support.apple.com/HT201359 ).

- Purchases can be made with your ID if your Apple ID is compromised (what to do ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT204145 ) or somebody else has access to your device (require purchase password ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT204030 ).

- If you only see a charge in emails or texts that are not official Apple receipts, it is likely phishing attempts ( https://support.apple.com/HT204759 ).

- If you are absolutely certain neither you, nor Apple, nor a Family Sharing member can account for a charge and it ONLY appears on a bill for a charge card you alone control, you may have been the victim of card fraud. Contact your financial institution.

- Small amounts of ~$1 may be an authorization hold that will be refunded (pending charge ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT201292 ).

If a purchase is listed in your purchase history and you want to ask for a refund, click on this link to "Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple" --> https://support.apple.com/HT204084

If a reporting a problem request is unsuccessful or you have another issue you can also try clicking here ➞ https://support.apple.com/choose-country-region/media-services Select your country, then a product.

It wasn't a threat. I am just a user of Apple products just like you. I do not work for Apple. Almost all responses on this forum come from other Apple customers. This is not official Apple Support. In fact if we did work for Apple very likely you would have received no response at all to this topic since Apple has said all it will say in the form of the documentation I quoted. The only negative part is I am a lot more frank than an official Apple representative is allowed to be. Since you said you were thinking of going to Visa and presumably cutting off payment from there I thought I would be nice and not only tell you a way you can talk to an actual person at Apple who might be able to help you, plus I thought I might save you a lot of trouble having to possibly deal with a disabled account through payment default. Oh well, do what you wish.
