Music "Conversion" Hassles Won't change to mp3... I have two iPods and a new iPad. The iPods don't recognize nor play any m4a music files. When I try to convert them in Music, it takes the 256 bit files and makes them 128 bit files, but still keeps them as m4a files, not mp3! Now this must have been an "improvement" in Big Sur, since files I converted just two months ago, did end up converted to 256 bit mp3 files! WHY DID THIS FUNCTION END??? What is Apple doing?

I have read previous posts about going to Edit, Preferences, Import settings, changing to MP3/WAV/AIFF (which should I choose?) but right clicking on songs or on an individual song does not give me a format option, the menu shows Play/Shuffle/Play next/Play later ect... You should be able to convert the wma using iTunes for Windows. I don't believe Music on the Mac will convert a wma
