Instructions for upgrading/changing memory will vary by model. Here's a list of models which Apple considers "user serviceable" along with the steps to do so:

If your device is not listed in that article (basically anything after 2013), it's not recommended to upgrade memory on your own unless you understand the risks involved in opening and tinkering with a laptop.

For maximum reliability, MacBook Pro models since the late 2012 Retina models have had their RAM soldered to the mainboard.

There are no user upgrades of RAM possible in those models. They are 'configuarble', which means you can order a larger RAM, soldered to the board when you buy it, not field-upgradeable.
