How to mute app ad audio

When playing certain games, while the game is muted, but occasionally an ad will pop up or is required to watch for a certain gain and the app will play sounds. The app sounds override listening ot podcasts or music and even come through when on phone calls! Usually the sounds are decibels louder than any other volume coming through the phone.

Please tell me there is a fix for this or at least one in the works?! Apps and any ads they run should both be capable of being muted by the user and certainly the audio should not interfere with a phone call audio.
