Intercom from outside

Is intercom supposed to work if I'm sending it from iPhone while I'm not at home?

My always says "Home is unavailable right now".

Both HomePod and iPhone are updated to latest OSes

Check under Home > Home Settings > Intercom that it is set to Anywhere. I've tried it just now with Wi-Fi off on my phone and it works.

You might try rebooting your router and then and device that might act as your Home Hub, i.e. HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad.

Change the setting to None or When I'm Home, use the Back button to ensure the new setting is applied, then set the option back to Anywhere, and try again. I assume you have an active data service on the phone when not connected to Wi-Fi.

intercom works fine when I'm home, but shows the following when trying to send message from other locations:
