Iphone 12 Not Saving Videos as MP4 Even With 'Most Compatible' Selected

In settings/camera/formats 'most compatible' is selected (high efficiency not checked). Images are saved as JPG but videos are still saving as MOV. It should be saving as MP4, not MOV. Record Video is set to 1080 at 30 fps. So many times I see online that selecting 'most compatible' saves video as MP4. Why isn't it working ?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

Contacted Apple support chat about this. The rep didnt really know the answer and went to find out a few times. He came back with IOS no longer records video in MP4 format. I asked then whats the difference between HighEfficiency and MostCompatible for videos? He said only file size., both save as MOV. I said that MostCompatible implies a different format which is compatible, which MOV is not, especially in Windows. Playing MOV files in windows either with Windows Media Player or the latest VLC player has many glitches, crashed windows several times and ended up destroying my Windows 10 operating system twice. When I then tried to avoid this by saving videos as MP4 I found it doesnt work and Apple support tells me its not possible anymore. For something that has millions of users, arent there many other users out there running into this issue ?
