My App Store splash screen shows no text.

What would cause (and how do I fix) the failure of my App Store splash screen to NOT display any text? I continue to get the banners notifications that an update is available, when I got to the App Store to select Updates to see what they are, nothing shows at all. It is useless.

How can Apple Apps that come with the MacOSX be reinstalled?

I'm on my Mac Mini running Catalina.

I did the restart but it didn't bring back the App. Then I restarted in 'Safe' Mode and it appeared! At least I assumed it was in Safe Mode. There was nothing I could find anywhere to tell me I was in Safe Mode. There were no procedures given anywhere telling me how to troubleshoot any particular problem, especially this one.

Thinking it fixed itself, I restarted in regular mode only to find that the App Store App was not showing anything again. So if I missed a repair option or self-test feature while in my undeclared 'Safe Mode' tell me how to do that. But I still have the missing text from the App Store Splash Screen. And what exactly is the Safe Mode, and its purpose?
