Subtitles vary from audio

Hello,

I have a problem with german subtitles and audio. I am trying to learn German and I found out that the subtitles vary from the spoken audio. The context is the same however the subtitles shown are sometimes completely diffrent words and the senteces are differently build.

Why is done this way ?

Welcome, adaz11, to Apple Support Communities!

Are both the subtitles and the spoken audio in the very same language (German, in this case)?

It is certainly not uncommon for the spoken audio and the subtitles to differ even if within the same language.

Since such may differ even when both are in the very same language, it is even more common for the two to differ when they are given in different languages, since translations from any language can be highly varied. For instance, any given phrase or sentence in one language can be properly translated into another language in multiple ways.

This also reflects the way that, even within a single language, there are multiple ways of expressing the same concepts.
