How my can music be shared with my family?

I have a very large iTunes library that I pay to be backed up on iTunes Match every year. Most of the music is from CDs I ripped (my own CDs that I purchased). The only way I can see sharing right now is via family sharing. However, this appears to only work when my family member's device is connected to our home wifi. This is nearly useless as 99% of the time we are all listening to music is outside of the house. Is there a way to have a single iTunes library that we all access as our default iTunes library?

By the way, the same question applies to photos as well. I've been a long-time apple user and this problem is enough to make me with all of our devices away from apple.

Family sharing is for sharing purchased content and/or some subscriptions with other members of a family group when each has their own Apple ID. Home sharing is for sharing media to the devices signed into the same Apple ID on local network. You can sync to and manage multiple devices all using the same Apple ID on a single computer. I used to manage devices for myself and three children this way, all purchases going through my account, but eventually they grow up and need their own IDs. With cloud services on devices each person should have their own account. There is a family plan for Apple Music which may or may not appeal. I don't really have any thoughts on photos other than you can take a similar approach to syncing content from a shared family library you build up on one computer.

I've been sharing a single AppleID for years. However, my wife and I both have apple watches now and are using them for health and fitness data. In addition, my kids are getting older and have their own devices. Sharing an AppleID isn't working anymore based on parental controls and fitness data. This is terribly frustrating as I can't sync music across the family and can't sync photos. Why won't Apple fix this?

I just find the approach virtually useless as I know a number of others feel the same way. I want all my music synced, not just purchases from Apple. I also want all my photos synced. Apple does both horribly. If anything they have only gotten worse over the years rather than better. I wish it was as easy as managing content with multiple Apple IDs on one computer. I have multiple devices and multiple Apple IDs. There is just no good option that I can see.

Are there other apps I could use that work better? I'm trying out Google Photos now to see how that syncs but is there another option for the music library?

Hey Dave112,

Thanks for posting your question in Apple Support Communities.

No, there is no way to share a single music library with your family members. Each library is unique to the user's Apple ID and cannot be shared. If you would like to suggest this as a feature, you can leave feedback with Apple by following this link: Product Feedback.

You mention being subscribed to iTunes Match. With an Apple Music family subscription, each member can stream millions of songs from the Apple Music catalog and you could share playlist with them and more. Take a look at this article for more info:
