When will apple fix (problem since 2019): Strong password offered by Safari not saved in Keychain
The problem is still the same in Q3/2021 of https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250176006
In short (quote):
"This is an incredibly irritating bug that Apple should fix. Safari encourages you to use the strong password it offers when you are setting up a new password for a website and the dialogue says it will be saved in your keychain. But it isn't saved and because the end of the strong password just fades out, you can't even write it down"
Suggested solution(s):
a, DO NOT gray out the field, so that user can at least copy the generated PW and make sure (e.g. manually adding it to Passwords).
b, add a Copy password smart button to that auto-gen-filled-up field
All the rest of the PW generating function is fine.
Thank you in advance!
Lots of users are suffering from this design fault for multiple years.
P.S. please do not try to explain that the Web site design is wrong or the user is stupid. This is how e-banking and other web sites work in the recent years - we must adopt (or skip using Keychain - which i basically trust... but if it does not work, then it does not matter if I trust or would like it, we will dislike & avoid it).
