Downgrading from iOS 9 to iOS 8?

Hello,

Is there a way to downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8? I'd like to go back to iOS 8, so I could keep syncing my iPhone 4S with my old Mac Pro. I don't like the idea of updating the Mac (currently 10.6.8), and therefore cannot update iTunes either - and iTunes 11.4 cannot sync with a phone that has iOS 9.

I managed to restore an older backup onto the phone, made when the phone was on iOS 8. But now, when starting the phone up, it instantly wants to upgrade.

The Mac might be able to run 10.7, but how would one update to that in 2021?...

Thank you for the link, I'll look into upgrading to Lion.

I guess I'm an old school nerd. I don't like to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. If a fifteen year old computer still works very well and does the job it's supposed to, why buy a new one? These old Mac Pros are amazing machines.

Downgrading iOS is not supported.

See Mac OS X Lion Installer if upgrading to Lion is appropriate.

Perhaps it is time to upgrade your fifteen year old computer.

I know what you mean. My nine year old Mac mini is still going strong, but it is only one OS update behind so far and has no problem working with my devices that are on current firmware.
