Regarding iMac Built-in speakers
So, I'm curious, has anyone found a way to equalize the built-in speakers of an iMac? When I play a movie, bkgd audio is always so much louder than the dialog. Any way to balance them?

I'm not sure you can. It's build into the movie. I get the same effect when watching movies on our TV set. Dialog is always a bit muted. I'm beginning to suspect that they make the movies only for the young who have better hearing than I. 😠
Just spent time reading reviews. Think I'll give "Boom3D" a shot. They have a 3 day trial, before purchasing.
Did it solve my problem? Time will tell.
Thanks everyone. Certainly appreciate the suggestions.
You're welcome. FWIW, I use Boom 3D on more than one Mac.
Have you looked on Adjust the sound quality in Music on Mac
It was a long shot. My recommendation is to contact www.apple.com/feedback to make the suggestion. We are all end users just like you so we have no more say than you.
Best.
Wish they had that detailed audio controls on our TV set.
But that is only for music tracks. I don't see where the Music app can handle movies.
It was a long shot I know.
That's great for adjusting a song, but it has no effect on movies you are playing. It's in the "Music App," for just that reason. Love to see a "Video App," that would allow for adjustments.
Or even a 3rd party app, that would integrate. Bummer!
Agreed, but wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something that another end-user might have figured out. And come on, Apple is gonna take MY suggestion? *LOL*
There's a couple of third party apps you can look at. eqMac & Boom 3D. I know Boom works up through Big Sur.
You don't know if you don't ask. Don't discount the power you have!
Boom 3D is exactly what I was looking for.
Allows me to adjust in a number of ways!!!
Thanks so much!
You're welcome.
