Find my: sound pending even though connected

Ok, so my daughter was not answering her iPhone, so I tried to use the “play a sound” function in the Find My app to get her attention and have her answer the phone…well, when I did so, instead of playing the sound it said “sound pending: will play once connected”. Now, I know that that can happen when the iPhone is not connected to WiFi/cellular data, but the funny thing is I tried FaceTiming her immediately afterwards and she answered it just fine…meaning that she had to be connected to a network in some way, yet it still said the whole sound pending message in Find My even when we were FaceTiming…how is that possible?? Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hello ALLIEKATT90,

We see that you're having some trouble with playing a sound on your daughters device. We'd be happy to point you in the right direction!

As there are various things that can cause something like that, you'll want to test it again to see if the issue continues once you know the device is connected to cellular/Wi-Fi. If this same thing happens again, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look in to this with you.
