Keynote error opening file "operation not permitted"

I have an iMac (iMac17,1) running Big Sur 11.5.2 and Keynote 11.1. After I have opened 2-4 Keynote files over a span of 1-2 minutes, I then get an error anytime I try to open an additional Keynote file. The error reads "File Name" can't be opened right now and then "Operation not permitted". If I close Keynote I can open 2-4 more files and then the behavior returns. I have deleted and reinstalled Keynote. I have deleted the Keynote preference file, as well as the support files in the ~\Library\Containers folder. All to no avail. I also have 2 other machines displaying this behavior. I am at a loss as to the cause at this point. Has anyone else experienced this behavior and found a solution?

Hi there stevecar30,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are not able to open multiple files in Keynote at the same time within a short period of time. Does this same thing happen if you wait a moment in between opening the files? Does it matter which files you are opening?

We hope this helps!

Hi Cheryl, thanks for your input. Once this issue starts, we can’t open any more files until we quit Keynote. The particular files do not matter. A file that failed to open now, will open after quitting and restarting the Keynote app. I have reached out to Apple for support on the issue, however thus far they haven’t found a cause or resolution. -sc

Hi again stevecar30,

Thanks for reaching back out. Does it seem like it only happens if you open the files really quickly, or does it happen if there is time between opening the files? Does it only happen when the multiple files are open at once, or also if you open and then close some? Since it is happening with multiple devices, it is likely not an issue with your specific Mac.

Reach back out to Apple Support to let them know you still have this issue and for further investigation.
