Not able to start hotspot in macbook pro

Hi all,

I have bought a new macbookPro and trying to create the hotspot using this link- https://www.howtogeek.com/214053/HOW-TO-TURN-YOUR-MAC-INTO-A-WI-FI-HOTSPOT/

But the point is when I choose -

Share your Internet Connection From - WiFi

then I go to

To computers using- Here, I can not find the wifi option. All I can see are two options- Thunderbolt Bridge and Bluetooth PAN

I want to share my internet connection using wifi so that other laptops can connect to this hotspot.

Is there any way to do this.

Sharing your Wi-Fi over Wi-Fi should not be necessary -- the other devices nearby should be able to pick up the original Wi-Fi signal for themselves.

I have an IoT device that needs to be debugged using wireshark. So to do that, I have to reroute all the packets through the laptop.

You can not share your Wi-Fi connection out over Wi-Fi.

Since windows provide this feature and this official link is saying the same way I wanted to do, I tried. https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchlp1540/mac

Thanks

No they don't. If you are using your WiFi to connect to the Internet you can not also use it to connect your devices. If you are connected to the Internet using Ethernet you can then use your WiFi to share that connection to devices connected to your Mac through WiFi. Does not matter what computer brand you are using. WiFi/Ethernet can not have two separate networks at the same time.

If you had an Ethernet connection, you could share that over Wi-Fi (or the reverse). If you had an iPhone [cellular] Hotspot, you could share that over Wi-Fi (may require a USB connection to the iPhone).
