There are certain apps that come as a part of the Apple OS. News, Photobooth, Garageband, etc. They seem to be "undeletable" using standard protocols, e.g. select>command delete, or Select>File>Move to trash.
My web searches do not provide an answer. Are end-users able to remove these and other unused and unwanted Apple proprietary apps?

The entire body of invariant Apple-Installed MacOS software is placed on its own separate, locked, checksummed Volume. This provides additional protection against malware attack.
MacOS does not routinely modify its installed software. Your settings are stored in separate files on a different volume.
Thanks Bob. This is what I was afraid of. I am frequently told that I need to update this software and I wrankle a little at the thought that the decision to have these apps (at all) has been taken out of my hands.
You can maybe run a newer version of the app if needed. For example, Mail is included with the operating system and can not be removed but you can run a third party email client rather than using Mail. Apache web server is installed with the operating system but you can run a third party newer verion of Apache rather than using the embedded Apache server.
Embedded MacOS apps can not be removed.
