I still am only getting the choice to Remove Pass. I would like the choice to Share Pass.

I am having a medical issue and am not able to attend the Opening Ceremony of The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama on July 7. I would like to transfer them to a friend. How do I do that? I do NOT want the tickets to go unused.

Thanks, ReadytotravelNow

I had this problem and this was my found solution. I went to my wallet, found the ticket (s), pressed the 3 dots in the top right corner, then clicked "remove pass". The pass then was reverted back to the original app that allowed me to put it in my wallet. With it reverted back to the original issuer, I was then able to transfer it from that application. Good luck!

To Transfer tickets from your Apple Wallet you must go into your wallet, select the ticket(s) you want to transfer and REMOVE IT from your wallet. This will send it back to whatever agency you transferred control of it from in the first place. In my case it was Ticket Master with the Bills. Wait a few minutes, then go to that agency, make sure you log out if you are logged in, and log in again. Follow your agency's process for transferring tickets and you'll be good. I just did this with three tickets with the Bills help people on the line because I was terrified to lose the tickets entirely. Good luck.

Sporting event tickets (e.g. Notre Dame tickets) are blocked from being shared from Apple Wallet. But you still have a few options. Some are more “official” than others…

1) You can login to your ticket account app (not Apple Wallet…probably an app with your Team’s name). Within that app, you should see an option to officially and legally transfer the tickets. Be advised, the person you’re transferring to will need their own login to the team’s ticketing app, in order to accept the transfer and see the ticket on their phone. This is preferred for transferring to friends. It’s free to do, so this is the best option. If you want to charge a friend, you’ll have to collect your money the old fashioned way.

2) Most teams have partnered with StubHub. (Why this isn’t a violation of anti-trust laws is a topic for a different post). You should see an option to “sell on StubHub” OR worst case, you should be able to type the ticket barcode into StubHub and post them electronically. StubHub will take it from there. (And when I say take it, I mean it. They’ll also take their requisite 15-20% commissions on both the buy side and sell side). Be advised that if the tickets haven’t been officially transferred to you, the original owner will be able to see they were posted to StubHub

3) From your Apple Wallet, with the ticket open, just take a screenprint of it. You can do this by pressing the Volume Up + Power button at the same time. The picture will be saved to your Photos app and you’ll be able to send it via text or email, same as any picture. This is not technically “allowed,” although I don’t think there is much teams can do to prevent it. Be advised, once you send a screenprint, that is essentially a replica, so the first person to enter the game with that barcode will render other replicas void and useless.

Copying from my post above: the option to transfer from Apple Wallet is hidden by design by the sports teams (i.e. they don’t want people transferring tickets from Apple Wallet, because they can't track that. They want people transferring tickets in the “preferred way” through the team’s ticketing app, because that requires a login with username/password and allows for tracking and legal transfer of ownership rights).

You really only have 3 options:

  1. Transfer the tickets the official / legal way - using the "transfer" feature in your team's app (not in Apple wallet). e.g. for MLB games, this is in the MLB Ballpark app. For NFL and CFB, teams have their own apps.
  2. Take a screenprint of the ticket from Apple Wallet screen >> text/send that picture to the person you're trying to transfer the ticket. NOTE: This is not the "preferred" way and is most certainly not a "legal transfer of ownership." However, I don't believe the gate attendants with the ticket scanners have anyway to prevent this from happening.
  3. Sell the tickets on StubHub - Most teams have chosen Stub Hub as their authorized ticket re-seller broker. How this not a violation of US Anti-Trust laws is a topic for another thread. However, you should be able to post and sell the tickets on StubHub, by typing in the full barcode number that is shown under the QR code of the ticket in your Apple Wallet. NOTE: This will count as a legal transfer of ownership to the buyer. So if the tickets are purchased via StubHub and the purchaser has an issue because the ticket didn't work, the seller will be fined/penalized by StubHub's very harsh ticket seller policies.

Keep in mind, the option to transfer from Apple Wallet is hidden by design by the teams. They don’t want people transferring tickets from Apple Wallet. They want people transferring tickets in the “preferred way” through the team’s ticketing app.

This requires authentication / signin. It also allows the teams to track transfers (I.e. Big Brother is watching). This is all intentional.

See example for Indianapolis Colts on how to “correctly” transfer tickets.
