Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you need assistance with the camera in your iPhone, so we'd like to see how we can help. As mentioned in: About the Camera features on your iPhone, "On iPhone models with the Ultra Wide (0.5x) lens, the Camera interface shows you what's happening outside of the shot that you're framing". The iPhone XS Max doesn't have an Ultra Wide lens.
