things have quit working on my second gen ipod touch

Safari won't let me check my Outlook email. It used to work but my email changed to Outlook a few months ago. It also won't update weather. A statement saying a 'server connection can't be made' keeps coming up and on weather it says 'update failed'. Is there anyway around this. It is running version 4.2.1 (8C148) on a model MB533C.
