Apple TV 4K keeps adding itself to nonexistent “My Home”

We bought my dad a new Apple TV for his birthday, and I wanted to set it up as a home hub. His Apple ID is the main user on the device, but I am the home organizer (he does have all permissions) at first, it added the tv to the default “My Home”, but we removed the accessory and deleted the home, but now I can’t add it to our shared home.
