Cannot install HP CP4025 on Big Sur.

I cannot install my color laserjet HP CP4025 on Big Sur, I tried one method which used a program called Pacifist to open the file from this link: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US.

I cannot open that link though as there are many subfolders and I don't know which one to install.

Please help, this is a very expensive printer that is an even bigger paper weight right now.

Hi,

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4025 does not appear to be a model supporting the driverless AirPrint technology, so it would proably be correct to assume that drivers are needed.

To begin with, it may be a good idea to reset the printing system. Does the operating system offer a suitable driver to use?

If necessary, you could try the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) package download from Apple (the link that you also mentioned). It should not be necessary to use any extra software to handle the updated download with the post date Dec 11, 2020. Once open, look for and try something like the HP Color LaserJet CP4020-CP4520 Series 19.13 driver version mentioned in the Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support article.

When testing drivers, there may be software conflicts. Make sure that you have backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera).

I am sorry you are having printer problems. If you will bear with me, I will offer some things to consider. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant software must be installed. Experience has shown that many printer manufacturers are very slow to provide updated drivers. Drivers for some older printers are never provided. (Apparently, they prefer to sell new printers.) What we can do is to thoroughly check the printer web site for an updated driver that works. If one is not available, then we should ask when one will be released. If that doesn't work, if the Printer has the Air Print feature, that can be used and no driver will be needed. If not, then you can check the web site below where volunteers write drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out. Good luck.
