Can't get my phone number to de-register from Apple and imessage.

Trying to switch my number to an android phone. Everything is working fine, but I can't receive text messages from iPhones. My iMessage and Facetime are both set to off.

Can't figure out how to do it online. I keep requesting a code, but it is going to never never land.

thanks for any help,

Paul

If you turn Messages on, can you receive text messages from iPhones?

To deregister the phone number for Messages/FaceTime, you need to remove the number on your Apple ID. You may have to add the new number before you can remove the old number. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
