Why would anyone want tooltip pop-ups EVERY TIME you want to type an entry?!! Very aggravating! Hope they add a opt out with next update!

That would be a right-click. What mouse, trackpad, etc. are you using? If it's a mechanical mouse, the buttons could be bad. A trackpad takes two finger tapping if you have the gesture turned on to right-click. The Apple Mac Mouse doesn't use buttons there are sensors to simulate buttons. Did someone swap your left and right buttons. i.e. Left Handed mode?

Tooltips are when you hover the mouse over buttons and controls. Are you talking about spelling correction popping up while typing?
Turn it off via System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text
Uncheck "Correct spelling automatically".
Other applications may have their own controls for this functionality.
No. When I click on a cell in Excel or to enter text on a web page a tooltip (I’m guessing) pops up with options to cut, copy, paste, etc. and won’t let me type until I click multiple times to get it to go away. A pain in the arse!
You nailed it, James! The mouse is the standard issue apple. The right click was activated even on the left side. I turned off the right click and the problem is fixed. I’ll order a new mouse.
Thank you!!
FYI,
Any mouse will work with the Mac. Glad to be of service.
