Why am I getting the message 502 Bad Gateway? I've emptied the cache and history but still can't get past that when doing a search on Safari. I have to restart computer and that willl usually fix it then but error msg will come back in 2-3 days.

How do I get the error message 502 Bad Gateway from popping up and not letting me on the Internet until I do a restart. Sometimes the restart doesn't help either.

Hello linda fromoracle,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities!

We see that you keep getting an error when trying to get onto a website on Safari on your Mac.

We’d be happy to help you!

Is it all websites or a particular one that is giving the error?

We recommend following the steps in If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected to troubleshoot this issue.

Take care.

Hi Chris. It is all websites that are affected. My software updates haven't updated since version 10.15.7. It tries to but will time out every time. Could this be my problem? A notice to update comes up every day but I'm not able to get it past a partial download and, of course, no installs. This has been happening for many months. Do you think this is all tied in together (the Bad Gateway and incomplete updates)?

Linda
