Left ear cup on Airpods Max not working?

Today I went to use my Airpods Max's as usual but sound only was coming out of the right cup and nothing on left. I tried doing the restart/reset. While it appears as though both were occuring (saw them disconnect as well as be removed from the bluetooth option), there was never an Amber light to confirm. The status light does work as it turns red while charging and white when put to sleep.....but no Amber when trying to restart or white to reset. I feel like the left cup has lost its sync with the right main cup but dont know how to pair them back up. Not sure if the lack of Amber light is related or not. Theyre past the warranty period and am afraid I they may be toast. Anyone else encounter this?
