Mail cannot connect to iMap server for computers running El Capitan.

Apple must have made changes to their iMap server, around the 30th/31st August 2021.

Now both my computers, that run El Capitan, report an error for receiving mail, saying that; 'The server returned error "p37-imap.mail.me.com" on the default ports timed out'

Many users, who are still running El Capitan, are reporting the exact same issue, that occurred at the same point in time, I cant believe that everyone's computers corrupted at the exact same time, so it must be due to changes made by Apple, to either their server or system.

I wasted a day, trying to resolve this issue, only after much searching to find posts on MacRumors from others with an identical issue.

I realise that my computer maybe a little old, being a 2011 MacBook Air, but it still works fine, so why should I be forced to change it and spend thousands on new software? Everything was working fine before the 30th August.

MacBook Air 11″, OS X 10.11
