Removing Gmail-account from Mac and iCloud Keychain

I'm having trouble removing an old Gmail-account from my MacBook Pro. I've also used the account on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air and when I remove the it from those devices I have no problems. But when I try to remove it from my MacBook Pro it disappears from the accounts list for about 15 seconds. Then I get a notification that a Google account has been added and I'm back to square one. I believe this is an iCloud Keychain issue but haven't been able to resolve it.

How do I get rid of it and why doesn't the MacBook Air have the same issue? Any help is greatly appreciated!

If your Mac is already up to date or you notice the same behavior after updating, we'd suggest trying to start your Mac up in safe mode and attempt to remove the Gmail account again. While in safe mode, your Mac prevents certain login items from starting up which could be affecting this process. If you are able to fully remove the account in safe mode, you'll want to restart your Mac as normal and be sure it is no longer showing in your regular startup mode as well.
