FCP taking up lots of storage even after deleting render files

Hi everyone!

I'm relatively new to Final Cut Pro, and was hoping someone could help me. FCP is currently taking up 300gb of storage on my laptop. I've gone through and:

  • Deleted most of the files, since I no longer need them
  • Deleted all the render files for each library and event/project I have
  • Turned off background rendering

Yet still it's taking up 300gb. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

Thank you for your help!

Delete all generated files, not just render files. You usually don’t need optimized media, of proxy. They can be recreated later in the unlikely case that they are needed. Also, in the preferences, uncheck the creation of optimized and proxy on import. That is probably how you got those large files in the first place.
