iPad Pro wifi

I’ve got the strangest problem with my iPad 2018 pro.

in all my years as a sys admin, o have never found a problem I could not resolve, but this weird.

my iPad will ping ( using the ping app from the Apple store ) any openings or url I put into it. The date and time is correct, so the iPad is definitely connected to the internet. But….the wireless icon does not appear, and I cannot connect any apps or browsers.

Trust me I have tried rebooting the router and the iPad, removing my network and signing in again. And anything else in the community or on a web search. My wife’s iPad and my iPhone connect with strong signals, so it’s definitely the iPad. I am also running the latest iPadOS. 14.7.1.

if you you post anything I will try it.. it won’t let me sign out of my Apple ID or connect to my iCloud.

I am willing to try anything short of calling Apple support,

respectfully,

ward123.

There's your problem. Why did you install Avast on an iPad in the first place. Antivirus apps are useless on iOS devices and cause more issues than they solve. I would suggest removing Avast and any other Anti-virus or anti malware app you may have on your iPad.

They are absolutely useless as sandboxing prevents them from scanning anything outside their own area and any specific file you send to them, and unnecessary as there are no viruses or malware that can directly affect an iPad.

Hi ward231,

Welcome to the Apple Community,

where some of us do our best to help each other troubleshoot.

Please excuse if some items hereunder are a bit simplistic

... sometimes even small points can be powerful if overlooked.

Wondering if you might want to try :

  • Turning off Bluetooth / accessory ... then checking if you can go online
  • Moving the iPad closer to the modem / router
  • Looking for any magnetic (or other) influence causing interference
  • Checking for any non-Apple apps / apps are compatible / up-to-date and /aren't causing difficulties

  • Consulting the online iPad User Guide

Eg : Manage Apple ID and iCloud settings on iPad

https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/ipad/ipad995bbafe/ipados

  • Check through this article from Apple Support

Eg: for issues with connected iPad that doesn't go online

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204051

Hope something here helps.

All the best :-)
