I cannot add a Yahoo account on my brand new iMac M1 and after that I could not sign on to Apple ID on that Mac

and that is a big part of the problem. Apple should be helping to find answers here.

technical issues like this (probably some invalid save setting that is left after delete an account) being cured quickly save lots of hours of support people on chat and the phone. It’s not like Apple is a garage based company anymore.

Great suggestion but I tried that and it made no difference, so I switched back to the regular password. But I’ll try again tomorrow.

the extra weirdness is both iCloud and Yahoo internet accounts are have issues. I add gmail and it works well.

something else I noticed is I can authenticate when adding the account and then it asks to check mail, contacts, calendar etc. I then press the button to apply and it hangs for as long as I let it. I then press cancel and the account isn’t added.

when adding iCloud after the apple ID is entered it hangs and refreshes that window but I see no error message.

also Apple suggested I used the connection tool in Mail and connections never show up in this windo when adding iCloud or Yahoo accounts.

Yes. Picked yahoo logo, authenticated, selected mail, calendar and contacts and after that it just spins forever. I’ve tried every combo of those three and they all spin.

My guess is no. I can add them on another Mac without issue on my same WiFi.
