Are you receiving an error message when you attempt to send mail? Sending mail requires that the SMTP server be correctly configured and that you have an internet connection, either cellular or wi-fi. You should also see an error message if the mail will not send.

Go to Settings>Mail>Accounts>select the account in question. Tap on the account again, then tap on SMTP. There should be a Primary Server listed. You can tap on that and look at the settings there. Make sure they match what your email provider has given you for settings.

If you are experiencing a problem, the easiest way to ensure correct settings is to delete the account on the iPhone, then restart your iPhone, then go into Settings>Mail>Accounts>Add Account and add the account back to the device again. It should go through a verification process and will tell you if it verified or not. From there, everything should work.
