Pop up notification

My mac won't stop giving me a pop up notification every 7 seconds about "StarterUpHelper" If I press allow, then I need administrator's' name and password, which I don't have. I have tried restarting my computer and finder but it won't go away.

Finder Wants to make Changes Finder is constantly popping up a dialog which asks for my (administrator) password. The dialog says "Finder wants to make changes - Enter your password to allow this" with text boxes for User Name and password. (see Image below) If I enter my password, it seems to accept it and then pop up the same dialog again. I have tried responding dozens (hundreds?) of times but without any apparent change. I am running Big Sur (11.6) on a late 2015 iMac I have searched for this message and found a few cases where people get it when they try to change something in the file system (such as delete a file or move a file). In these cases it seems that there is some sort of permission issue (e.g. on the trash folder). This is not my case. Whatever is causing the problem seems to be running in the background. If I run in safe mode the problem does not occur. I have rebooted the Mac many times I thought the problem might be related to a Key Chain sync issue. I reset the logon key chain but that didn't work. I thought the problem might be triggered by background processes associated with spotlight search. I changed my spotlight privacy settings to exclude various parts of the file system. Currently I have excluded my whole disk drive. (Macintosh HD). This didn't work either. When I get the dialog, finder is pretty much unresponsive. It even stops a normal restart request. I have found that I can get a window to let restart work by first requesting the restart and then relaunching finder. The dialog is not very helpful because it gives no indication about what change finder wants to make or the relevant objects. I can't find any log to shed more light on this. Does anyone know of a log that might help? I've spent many hours trying to diagnose this and searching the internet for reports of similar problems. Any suggestions would be welcome. Tony

Can't login to System Preferences only and other issues I've been getting random login popup/prompts that my Mac (MacBookPro) "Wants to make changes" for months now. It's because of a Searchhelper phishing virus that periodically creates a profile on my computer, adds the Flash Player plugin to my System Preferences dashboard, and an add-on extension in Chrome. So today, I went to make changes in my System Preferences dashboard and, of course, it asked me for my username and password. The fields were blank, which was strange since my username is usually already there. I proceeded to enter my username and password here, and it was rejected as "incorrect." I then tried to unlock user info, modify user, access advanced settings, etc., without success—same thing, my username and password is apparently incorrect. I then tried changing my password in safe mode, but that didn't help. I am able to login my computer fine, just like before, but I still cannot modify any system preferences. Also, I wish I'd noticed before, but I don't have a separate administrator user account on my Mac to login with. The account I usually log in with is listed as a "standard" user. There is no administrator user listed. So, I'm reaching out to ask: 1.) How I gain access to administrator features in system preferences when login doesn't work, I can't add a user, and there is no other administrator account? 2.) How I add an administrator account for future issues when the plus and minus signs are inaccessible? 3.) How to remove Searchhelper virus for good. I've tried everything short of restoring my computer to factory settings and removing Chrome. Any insight/help with these 3 issues is appreciated. Thanks.

New Mac user On start up I’m getting a message that says, There is no application set to open the url ksec:// openFromLoginitem. this started appearing after I did the last update. any help would be appreciated..

Based on what you posted, this app requires administrator level approval to run. The second image indicates that this notebook has been configured with Parental Controls ... which is why it is not allowing it. As such, I can only assume that some one enabled these controls and you will need to discuss it with them.
