Destroyed my entire operating system on my Mac. How to get it back

So. That was a password on my Mac which I forgot. So I went into our recovery mode by clicking command plus all. Reinstalling the operating system. Then I raise the entire Mac full recovery. For hours upon hours. It was frozen with a line through it. Spinning. It’s been that way ever since a couple weeks ago. I’ve tried everything. I destroyed. How do I get my operating system back
