MacBook screen error

My MacBook was dropped, it worked for a few days and now all I can get when it is turned on is the following alternating screens.

Looks serious.

Hi Derek,

Your Mac appears to have started up from macOS Recovery. The icons appearing onscreen are asking you to connect a mouse or trackpad. Considering that your MacBook (Air/Pro) has a trackpad built in, there is likely a hardware issue and your Mac isn't detecting the built-in trackpad.

Please contact Apple Support and schedule a hardware repair.

If you plan to transfer via the network from the NAS, the Setup Assistant on your new Mac will include the option to transfer from a Time Machine backup. You'll then see an option to connect to a server (your NAS).

If that doesn't work, you can also restore directly from the sparsebundle via USB. In the Setup Assistant, choose not to migrate any data (it won't see the sparsebundle by default, since it is not mounted). Once you've finished setup, connect the external drive to your Mac, then open the sparsebundle image.

At this point, you should see a second drive appear on your desktop. This is the Time Machine backup drive contained inside the sparsebundle. To restore your content from it, go to the Applications folder and run Migration Assistant. When prompted, choose to transfer from a Time Machine backup. The backup drive will now appear normally.

In terms of speed, I'm not sure what the fastest option would be. It depends on your internal network speeds.

Many thanks. The MacBook is too old and not worth repairing so I have purchased a new one.

I had it backed up to time machine on a network QNAP NAS. This in turn is backed up to a USB 1TB Seagate external drive connected to the NAS.

I have now bought a new MacBook Air.

My question is when setting up the new MacBook how do I connect it to the NAS folder where the Sparse Bundle is? It will be on the same network. Or would I be better connecting the External Seagate to the new MacBook by USB?

Many thanks.
